Deep Cleaning Versus Light Cleaning

What Is Deep Cleaning?

Many people ask us about the difference between our deep cleaning service and the general cleaning service that we supply.  Much will depend on what condition the property is in and this will dictate the type of cleaning required.

General Light Cleaning

Many of our clients have a general light clean once or twice a week. For this type of cleaning our DBS checked staff will visit your property and carry out basic cleaning. This will cover things like general dusting and polishing, hoovering around the property, cleaning of floors and surfaces and cleaning of bathrooms and toilets as required.

This type of cleaning is suitable for most properties and will go a long way towards keeping the rooms in your house clean, free of dust and looking good. Cleans of this nature normally take between 2 and 3 hours per property but obviously, this will also depend on the size of your home. Bear in mind that a 2-hour clean will only allow around 15/20 minutes per room subject to how many rooms that you will want cleaning on the day.

Deep Cleaning

With deep cleaning the time required for each room will increase greatly. Deep cleaning is ideal to bring the rooms within your property up to a high, very clean standard. In many cases, we can start with a deep clean and once the general cleanliness is good, we can then move onto a regular light cleaning service.

Times to deep clean a room will vary, but if it is a bedroom with minimal furniture, it may take 1-2 hours. A large kitchen could take around 4 hours. Overall, everything depends on the size of the room, how much cleaning is involved and how much stuff needs to be moved around to get to the areas that need working on.

When we deep clean a room, it is much more intensive and covers every area. In a deep clean situation, we will move furniture away from the walls and begin by cleaning the ceiling, walls and skirting boards of dust and any cobwebs.

Windows, windowsills, and blinds are then cleaned of any dust and dirt that has built up over time. Lampshades, lights and any other fixings are then cleaned. Furniture is moved back once the floors or carpets have been cleaned and the room is then fully dusted, hoovered, polished and treated with anti-bacterial products to provide a fully hygienic living space.

When deep cleaning kitchens and bathrooms, there are more areas to consider and the deep clean will cover both the inside and outside of any cupboards, fittings, fridges, appliances and more. In general, each room is cleaned from top to bottom leaving no surfaces that haven’t been checked and cleaned thoroughly.

Once you have had a deep clean, regular light cleaning is all that is required to keep everything shipshape!
