Are you looking for a company that supplies companionship to older people in the Christchurch area?

If so, we can help as we cover the BH23 postcode and the surrounding areas.

Our companionship rates are reasonable and not excessive compared to other companies that offer these types of service. We supply a high-quality service that is individual and unique to the person that we are working with as we treat everyone we meet as a one-off. At the end of the day, no two people are exactly alike, and we bear this in mind when meeting and providing this specialist type of support.

Our family run Company has now been established since 2017 and we have naturally developed this side to our business. The staff working for us and providing this support are all DBS checked to ensure they are of good character and background, and we have some very nice people working for us. In addition to our background checks we look for staff that have a good manner about them. We select people that are polite, friendly and above all have some life experience as this helps to build a bond with our older clients. Patience plays a big part in this service as does the ability to listen and take on board what the customer is saying.

Our aim is to ensure that the client has what they need to maintain some independence in the later stage of their life. We find that this can help to maintain their spirit and keep them upbeat and looking forward to their days out and the appointments that they have on a regular basis.

What do we do when we supply companionship services to the older generation?

The list is quite varied!

We will start by arranging to meet the person and aim to establish a rapport and bond with them. Anyone that deals with older members of their family or friendship group may know that some people can be resistant to change or something new and, in some cases, the person may not even realise that they need something like this in their life.

We consider whether the regular support person should be male or female or in some cases, we may apply two people if we feel that this variety may help. We look at what the person does daily and what they would like to be doing or their general requirements. Some clients may be looking to get out of their property for a few hours and take in in our beautiful local countryside and depending on how mobile they are we can arrange for drives through the New Forest or even a short walk. Dorset and Hampshire have some incredibly beautiful locations, and just being immersed in this environment can lift a person’s spirit and increase their mental wellbeing.

Our service covers the following, but we are happy to add something not listed. However, we are not a care company, so we don’t provide personal care services such as washing or bathing clients.

We include;

  • Day trips out in the car
  • Day trips out to include a walk or some sightseeing
  • Assisted visits to appointments such as the hospital or Dr’s surgery including support (physical and mental)
  • Pets can also be included in these days out!
  • Shopping trips for food, general items or clothing. Again, we can provide support, advice and general help
  • Assistance with paperwork, forms or telephone calls. We know that many elderly clients can struggle with paperwork, the internet or calls especially if they are slightly hard of hearing.
  • Internet, computers, tablets, mobile ‘phones and email. We know how frustrated many people become when dealing with these types of things (older and younger people!) and we can organise and sort these types of issues out to get them up and running in this electronic age.
  • Basic DIY tasks can be handled. If the client needs a shelf putting up or a cupboard door fixing, we can assist and get these things sorted for them.
  • A general chit chat! Many older people just want to have a good natter and a cup of tea. They want to be listened to and they want to be heard. This can be very satisfying for them.
  • De cluttering the home. Help with organising stuff into boxes, disposing of unwanted items and general sorting out.
  • Game playing (such as chess or cards). Game playing can be a lovely pastime and helps to keep the brain focused and sharp!
  • General cleaning of the property
  • Help with access to lofts and awkward places within the property
  • Emotional support
  • Helping with travel arrangements
